Fairfield pupils reach for the skies

To officially open this year’s summer fete, pupils from Fairfield Academy took part in a balloon release to symbolise that they can all reach new heights.

Back in January, Fairfield Academy joined the David Ross Education Trust, who also sponsor Humberston Academy, Havelock Academy and Edward Heneage Primary Academy, based in Grimsby.

Mrs Carn, Principal, said: “There is much to celebrate at Fairfield this year so we wanted to do something that would mark how far we have come and also look into the future.

“Becoming part of the David Ross Education Trust is just the start of a whole new chapter for us. In the last few months we have had a brand new outdoor learning area, took part in sporting events with Olympians and participated in circus skills workshops.”

As part of the event, every child had to think about their aspirations and dreams for the future.

Mrs Carn added: “The pupils loved thinking about what they want to be when they grow-up. We had everything from teachers and accountants, to doctors and racing drivers. It was great to see that our pupils are ambitious about their futures.”

Alex, a Year 4 pupil, said: “Today has been so much fun. It has taught us we should always try and be the best we can be!”

Parents and carers gathered to watch the balloons being released. One balloon has already been discovered in the market town of Brigg, nearly twenty miles away.

Nigel Whittle, Director of Education for the David Ross Education Trust, attended the event and said: “I am very glad I was able to come and help celebrate with all the staff and pupils here today.

“There are some exciting plans in place for Fairfield and I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for both the academy and all its pupils."
